Colleen McCracken, MBA
Colleen McCracken is a partner with Quad Group with over thirty years of successful business experience and leadership in non-family and family businesses. Colleen has a passion for family business because she believes strongly in the culture and values that these companies offer to family and non-family members who work in them.
Colleen has been fortunate to spend the last 20+ years working as a non-family member President and CEO of two well-known family businesses in Maine, Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers and Planet Dog.
In these leadership roles, Colleen successfully oversaw all functional aspects of the business as well as developed the future growth plans for business success. With a strong financial acumen, Colleen led the successful implementation of several ERP systems as well as a “lean manufacturing” program at Thos. Moser. Colleen has a proven track record of improving business performance through developing strategic plans and tactical plans to achieve business results. With this expertise, Colleen successfully led Planet Dog through a significant growth period over the last 5 years resulting in a 75% improvement in bottom line results. Colleen most recently managed the sale and transition of the Planet Dog Wholesale business to a private equity firm.
During Colleen’s tenure with family business, she has experienced first hand the importance of family governance, succession planning, and conflict resolution as part of the successful operation of a family owned business. She has spent the last 12 years active in the Institute for Family Owned Business in Maine (IFOB), recently serving as its Board Chair and currently serving on the Advisory Board. As a strong advocate for education, Colleen also serves on the Board for Junior Achievement of Maine. Colleen holds a BA in Accounting from Bentley University and an Executive MBA from Boston University.
Colleen has two grown children and lives in Scarborough with her husband and her adorable Yorkshire Terrier, Tasker. She looks forward to sharing her experiences and expertise with other family owned businesses in Maine and beyond.
